Scaffolding Thursday reminds us of the dangers of working on scaffolding. The day aims to prevent fall accidents.
Scaffolding Thursdays have been celebrated since 2000. It is organized jointly by the Construction Industry RT, the Trade Union PRO, the Finnish Construction Federation, the Finnish Work Safety Center and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The 2026 Scaffolding Thursday will be held in conjunction with Safety Week (4-8.5 May).
Special attention to racks and weather protection
Scaffolding Thursday offers companies a convenient time to pay extra attention to scaffolding and weather protection, which ensures e.g. bearing capacity of the scaffold foundations, anchoring of the scaffold, and implementation of guardrails. Regarding the weather protection, it should be checked whether a plan has been drawn up for the weather protection and how the weather protection is designed to be attached to the object to be protected or on top of the support stand, and whether the weather protection is installed according to the plan.
