Standardization

Finland has a network-based standardization system, in which SFS Finnish Standards is responsible for the general infrastructure of standardization and coordination of operations. The Building Products Industry (RTT) acts as a sector association for SFS Finnish Standards and is responsible for approximately half of the standardization in the construction sector.

The industry associations representing the different fields of SFS Suomen Standards are responsible for practical standardization processes, e.g. of standards statements, votes and, if necessary, translation. In addition, they maintain standardization groups that influence the content of European (EN) and global (ISO) standards under development.

The Building Products Industry RTT prepares Finnish SFS standards when necessary. They are prepared in working groups (TR).
