Surface contracting

The Finnish Floor and Wall Covering Association, which was previously the third association, joined the Finnish Surface Contractors Association as a sector member in late 2025.

The associations in the surface industry negotiate two separate national, generally binding collective agreements: the collective agreement for the painting and floor covering industry and the collective agreement for the waterproofing industry. Each association is responsible for collective bargaining negotiations in its own sector, works to improve the operating conditions in the sector, and supports, trains, and advises its members on various labor and contract law issues.

About 350 companies belong to surface industry associations.

The members of the associations are roofing contractors and roofing industry companies, surface contractors i.e. facade and painting contractors, companies installing floor and wall coverings, and companies manufacturing and/or importing products in the painting and floor covering industry. The sizes of the member companies of the associations vary from small one-person or family businesses to large companies employing hundreds of employees.

All member companies of the Surface industry associations are also members of Rakennusteollisuus RT through their associations.

The surface industry also includes Association of Teollisuuden Muurausurakoitsijat ry, which is an interest protection organization for companies engaged in technical masonry activities. The association's member companies supply fire-resistant structures mainly for the needs of industry.
