Surface contractors

The Finnish Association of Surface Contractors is a trade and employer organization in the painting, surface treatment and floor covering industries, which monitors the interests of its member companies in labor market and economic policy matters and promotes opportunities for activity in the industry.

Surface Contractors consists of 17 sub-associations and one industry member association, whose members are manufacturers or importers of products and supplies in the painting or floor and wall covering industries. Surface Contractors works closely with its member associations, which also organize their own local activities and training for their members.

The Finnish Association of Surface Contractors is the second association in the Surface sector of RT, along with the Finnish Roofing Association. The Finnish Association of Floor and Wall Covering Contractors, which was previously the third association in the surface sector, currently operates as one of the Surface Contractors' associations.

Approximately 230 member companies form a nationwide network of surface treatment experts. The companies offer a wide range of services, from facade repairs and industrial surface treatments to residential building surface renovations. The combined turnover of the member companies is approximately 500 million euros, and they employ over 4,000 professionals. A typical member company is a family business with fewer than 10 employees, but there are also operators employing over 200 people.

The Finnish Surface Contractors Association is negotiating a collective agreement for the Painting and Flooring Industry with the Finnish Construction Federation, which represents employees. In addition, it is a party, together with three other RT unions, to the collective agreement for construction workers with the Finnish Trade Union PRO.

Surface contractors offers its member companies a comprehensive member advisory service and actively informs, especially about labor relations and economic issues, and educates its member companies about labor relations, contracting and YSE matters.
