Occupational safety in the construction industry

In the construction industry, occupational safety has traditionally been associated with risks related to work in the industry and their prevention. However, occupational safety is much more: Good management, occupational well-being and the long-term health effects of work are equally part of occupational safety in construction.

Long-term work has been done in the construction industry to prevent accidents. As a result, accidents, especially in RT's member companies, have significantly decreased and their severity level has decreased. The basics, such as the use of personal protective equipment, are fine in construction workplaces. Now, key themes in improving occupational safety are safety management, ensuring competence (good orientation and job guidance) and consideration of work-related issues that affect well-being, such as psychosocial factors. It's about creating a good occupational safety culture in the industry.

Development work continues both in terms of accident prevention and safety culture. Both member companies and Rakennusteollisuus RT are committed to this together. The common goal is a prosperous, healthy and safe construction industry.
