The occupational safety competition between construction sites for last year's safest site in the Varsinais-Suomi region has been resolved. The national construction series was won by Peab Oy's Turku unit. The locally built category was won by TKU-Rakennus Oy.
Unit manager of Peab Oy's Turku unit Marika Siirto rejoices with the construction site personnel about the win:
"We are proud of the victory for a reason. We have systematically developed occupational safety in our area and it is great that it has also been noticed. The award is proof of the site's active attitude in safety work. There is a very good team spirit at the construction site and it is reflected in the attitudes towards good construction site cleanliness, work safety and taking care of things together."
"At Peab, occupational safety is taken seriously as part of the work, and it is also reflected in our good occupational safety level on the construction sites. Our common goal is to reduce the number of work-related accidents to zero, so that everyone can get home safely after a day's work. Anticipation also includes making safety observations, and we strongly encourage our personnel to do this. It is one effective way to reduce accidents. In our unit, the Ruotumestarintie 1 site has made the most safety observations and it is seen as a good safety situation. We have collectively noticed that taking safety issues into account has a huge positive effect."
"The victory in the competition is a big thank you to all our personnel for a well-done safety job. We want to continue and develop this work in the future as well," states Marika Siirto.
It has been proven that companies that participate in safety competitions generally have fewer workplace accidents than others. It is therefore worth paying attention to security.
In Finland proper, occupational safety competitions have been organized in the building construction industry since 1991. There are 2 series in the competition: a series of nationally operating construction companies and a series of locally operating construction companies. The evaluation criterion in the competition was the TR index of the construction sites.

Occupational safety is professionalism: The results of the 2022 occupational safety competition
TR measurement has been used as a criterion for the competition. From the safety observations made at the construction site, a TR level is obtained, which indicates the ratio of things that are in order to all the observations made. The TR index is one hundred if all observable things are in order during the inspection.
