There is enough talk and text about the quality of the construction. More often than not, special attention is paid to various mistakes and imagined or real greed, laziness and lack of service. Learning from mistakes is often effective. A dull and expensive experience will leave a mark on working methods if the perpetrators are the learning type. I believe that all people who have worked in the construction industry for a long time have experiences of this, lighter or heavier.
Focusing on mistakes can teach, but it is not only good. When we denigrate what we do and ourselves enough, we don't see development or good quality, which is nevertheless being done and to which everyone should strive. We don't really dare to say that the result was good. However, most of our built environment is of high quality in use and beautiful to look at.
The media and the comments of the ignorant also contribute to the unnecessary shame of people in the industry. Although we know good quality acts, we don't think we dare to talk about them. Are we afraid that a mistake will be revealed there? Let me just note that the proper handling of even the bumps is doing quality work.
Now the people of construction sites and factories are challenged to show how quality is made and who makes it. We reward people in workplaces who implement quality in their everyday work.
We're not looking for magicians. We are looking for employees, work teams, foremen, project managers and supervisors who make quality in the everyday construction industry, not only in special sites. After all, everything we do has to be of high quality.
We challenge the people in the industry To the Quality of Construction competition, whose winner will be announced and awarded at the FinnBuild fair in October. At the same time, we talk about quality in the voices of construction sites. This competition also takes our field forward. So report the quality act during May!
