Young people can get to know the construction industry in the learning environment of NYT Yrityskylä

9th graders from Pirkanmaa, Häme and Northern Ostrobothnia will get to learn about the construction industry in a hands-on learning environment in a fictional construction company. Rakenna Tulevaisuutta Oy, implemented in collaboration with RT and its member companies Hartela, Are, Caverion, YIT, Peab and Kerabit, can be found in the Youth NYT Business Village.

Rakenna Tulevaisuutta Oy, a fictional construction company that builds residential, commercial and infrastructure spaces in the business village, offers students the opportunity to try out different construction professions and tasks.

Students will be able to learn not only about the work tasks themselves, but also about educational paths, career opportunities, and responsible and environmentally friendly construction from various perspectives.

The goal is to inspire young people to enter the construction industry and expand their understanding of the diverse opportunities in the field.

Rakenna Tulevaisuutta Oy can be found in the Business Villages in Pirkanmaa (Tampere), Häme (Lahti) and North Ostrobothnia (Oulu) in the academic years 2025–2027, and in the Business Villages in Lapland (Rovaniemi) and North Karelia (Joensuu) in the academic year 2025–2026.

INFRA ry has been involved in Yrityskylä for several years.

This is not the first time the construction industry has been involved in Yrityskylä. INFRA ry has been with its member companies at its own location for four years now.

The young people have been able to plan, among other things, the infrastructure of residential areas, the construction of railways and tunnels, and project communication. The Infrastructure Builders' Business Village will continue for the next three years together with Ramboll, Destia, GRK and MANK ry. This year, functional infrastructure will be planned with ninth-graders in Helsinki, Oulu, Jyväskylä and Kuopio.

What is Now Business Village?

NYT Yrityskylä Yläkoulu is a game-based learning package aimed at ninth-graders, with the aim of strengthening young people's working life, entrepreneurship and financial skills. The package includes school lessons and a game situation implemented in Yrityskylä's game arena, where students manage a company and develop its business responsibly.

9th graders appreciate Yrityskylä's hands-on approach to learning:

“I learned that teamwork is the best way to succeed and that you shouldn’t be shy about asking for help.”

“The most interesting thing was the company's environmental friendliness”

“It was really interesting, I could come work for you.”

Up to 2025 percent of Finnish ninth-graders are expected to attend Yrityskylä Upper Secondary School in the 2026–92 academic year.
