The collective bargaining negotiations in the construction sector have not yet reached a solution. On 22 April, the Finnish Construction Federation announced that it would organize a three-day strike, affecting work in the HVAC sector in the Uusimaa region. The strike will also affect work in the HVAC sector outside of Uusimaa if the workers are employed in Uusimaa.
The strike will begin on Wednesday, May 7.5.2025, 00.00 at 9.5.2025:23.59 and end on Friday, May XNUMX, XNUMX at XNUMX:XNUMX. It will be canceled if a negotiated outcome is reached in the collective bargaining negotiations.
"I find the announcement by the Finnish Construction Federation of a three-day strike threat for the HVAC sector regrettable. Collective agreement negotiations in the construction sector have progressed in a reasonably constructive spirit overall. Escalating the situation with a strike does not promote turning construction towards growth or the common interests of companies and employees," CEO of LVI-Teknisten Urakoitsijedi Mika Hokkanen says.
"We are seeking solutions for our sectors that are in line with the general policy in the Construction Industry and the contractual practices established in the labor market. We are not weakening employees' employment security or demanding any weakening of collective agreements. The Construction Federation is also very well aware of the exceptionally difficult economic situation in construction," RT's Labor Market Director Jukka Sarhimaa toteaa.
The negotiations that began at the beginning of the year have continued without an agreement since the beginning of March. The previous agreements concluded in 2023 must be followed until new collective agreements are concluded. The negotiations in the construction sector concern eight generally binding agreement areas.
