In light of the HVAC wholesale statistics, last year 2023 started comfortably, but already turned negative in the second quarter. Cumulatively, the year's balance was approx. 9% with frost. On the other hand, it should be noted that the 2023 figures are compared to the hard percentage figures of the previous year, and they should not be viewed separately from these. Last year was difficult in the construction sector, and the beginning of the new year does not look good either. The most difficult has been the new construction of owner-occupied apartments, but the rest of the construction may have gone reasonably well.

Building technology comes at the end of the cycle and a large number of new buildings will be completed in the first half of the year that has started. However, new housing starts have been few and far between for a long time, so there is a risk of a quieter period for building technology as well, of course with different emphasis in different segments and regionally as well.
It would be important to speed up the repair construction. There is a pent-up need for repairs in the building stock, and the renewed building energy efficiency directive puts additional pressure on energy repairs.
"I believe that in a few years there will be a repair boom," says Talteka's CEO Ilkka Salo.
Also, new construction will probably start again in the next year.
"From the owners' point of view, it would be wise to start the necessary repair projects quickly now that labor, materials and offers are readily available," Salo continues.
