Continuing education for building construction professionals is progressed in a group and at your own pace.

Sami Heiskanen and Marko Lukkarinen have been satisfied with the training.
In October 2022, the group that started the vocational degree in building construction at the Savo vocational college gathered at the end of February for the last joint day of close training. Five Fridays have passed in a good group, getting familiar with, for example, building physics, occupational safety, economics and dust management.
- Good and versatile content. This five days is just the right amount, is the group's unanimous assessment of the implementation.
The professional degree, which is intended as continuing education for professionals in the field, includes one mandatory part of the degree, which is rhythmicized in common days arranged during the winter. In addition, the student chooses several optional parts of the degree. The degree is completed with a learning contract in one's own work, so the optional parts are chosen according to the needs of the student and the company. The tests are performed in connection with practical work tasks and are evaluated in cooperation between the company representative and the teacher. The vocational training contract is usually concluded for about one and a half years.
But you can progress even faster if you have the skills required for the displays and suitable display options are available. Construction worker working in Salmi Sami Heiskanen accelerated the completion of the degree in less than half a year. On the last day of in-person training, the work is practically finished except for writing the certificate.
- There happened to be good construction sites, where suitable display objects could be found. The displays of optional parts were implemented in door installations, construction of partition walls and demolition work, Heiskanen says modestly.
I joined the training on the recommendation of my employer. Heiskanen completed his basic degree in the field at Savo Vocational College in 2018, so his professional career is already several years behind him.
Noble Builders Marko Lukkarinen has also been satisfied with the implementation of the training.
- The next day of dust management was really interesting. Building physics and the reading of pictures could have been even more in-depth. And even if some functionality is added, for example a site visit with a group, Lukkarinen ideas for further development of the training.
Teacher in charge of the professional degree Matti Salo says that the new vocational qualification group is to be launched again in the fall of 2023.
- The common days of the mandatory part start in the fall, but the most enthusiastic ones are already starting their apprenticeship and completing the optional parts of the degree. There will be approximately the same number of days as in the two previously implemented trainings.
Also based on the written feedback, the group's experience has been positive. The average of the feedback is over 4,5, with five being the maximum. The best thing has been the diversity of the content of the next few days and dust control. And the coffees.
