A new regional manager has started in Turku

Katja Suovo has started the building industry as regional manager for Southwest Finland and Satakunta when Markku Leppälehto retired at the beginning of September. Read here Katja's own introduction and thoughts on the threshold of new challenges.

"I am a 42-year-old master's degree in engineering from Kaarina, who is interested in working with people in addition to technology.

I graduated as an engineer from Vaasa University of Applied Sciences in 2002 (structural engineering) and completed my knowledge management with master's studies in engineering 2014–2016 at Tampere University of Technology. My work experience is mainly from the design side, but I completed my summer internships during my studies at the turn of the millennium by cleaning YIT's construction sites in the Turku region.

Contract negotiations and the coordination of the planning and construction phase processes in the design projects of housing and office projects have introduced me to the operations of construction companies and the precast concrete industry. In my managerial work, I have handled tasks related to collective agreements and the employer's responsibilities. I had a good time with Optiplan, Vahase and Ramboll for a total of 19 years, and at no point was the time long. However, now I felt that it would be fun to learn something completely new again.

I have gotten to know association activities through my hobbies: I have been involved in scouting for almost 30 years and in the 2000s I joined the Turku RKM bowling club (Turu Association of Builders Bowling Club). In addition to these, I am also a keen caravaner, mushroom picker and wool sock weaver.

I am friendly and curious by nature. I like to learn new skills and share my knowledge with others. I believe in working together and I hope that I can facilitate and develop cooperation between different parties. With cooperation, we can influence both occupational safety and solving administrative challenges.

At the dawn of a new everyday life, I feel excitement, enthusiasm and also uncertainty about what the coming autumn will bring. At the same time, I firmly rely on the support of my new colleagues and the district associations of Southwest Finland and Satakunta. Together we can get through everything."

We'll be in touch.
