On March 11.3.2015, XNUMX, the Parliament discussed the audit committee's report on combating the gray economy. At the end of last year, the audit committee made a report that assessed how successful the measures to combat the gray economy have been. The report is based on the report, the discussion in the committee and the consultation of experts.
The construction industry continues to rise in the report, for example due to success. A significant number of legislative measures have been implemented in the construction sector and new electronic procedures have been developed in the sector to manage obligations.
In the construction industry, the results also speak for themselves. The reversed value added tax and tax number have brought in an estimated 125 million euros per year to the state coffers. The notification obligation that came into force last summer increases the Tax Administration's more precise reasons to 6–000 observations every month.
However, the audit committee is concerned that the current and new measures to combat the gray economy may cause an unreasonable administrative burden for companies operating honestly. In its opinion, by making electronic services more efficient, supervision can be made more efficient and the administrative burden reduced.
The construction industry RT agrees with the committee's concern and view that it is now important to consolidate proven practices and create a joint prevention strategy. At the same time, it must be ensured that they produce the desired benefits, such as an increase in tax revenues and healthy competition.
"Even though the construction industry has fought on the front line against the gray economy, we have no reason to be lulled into a feeling of well-being. We present a thorough report on the functionality and effectiveness of measures to combat the gray economy in the construction industry during the next government term. The investigation should be done together with the authorities and the labor market partners", Rakennusteollisuus RT's labor market director Tapio Kari toteaa.
"New legislative measures should not be taken for the construction industry now, but the focus must be on ensuring the efficiency of the tax authorities and other authorities' operations, as well as mutual cooperation and information exchange," sums up Tapio Kari.
