Statement on the Construction Act amendment series

Construction Industry RT considers it good that the proposals for amending the Construction Act have been prepared and the proposals have also identified, based on the government program, the areas that are justified to change.

In the spring of 2023, in connection with the consideration of the Construction Act, exceptionally strong criticism was presented in the parliament that stakeholders had not been sufficiently consulted during the preparation and that the law contains shortcomings. The repair series has now tackled things that were already considered non-functional at the time and to which the stakeholders drew attention.

Since it is not possible to amend legal texts extensively and in detail in connection with parliamentary proceedings, we consider the correction series very necessary. In our opinion, based on the proposed changes, the law will be more effective, more functional and less bureaucratic. The amount of regulation will not increase either.

Low-carbon regulation entered the Construction Act as a new matter. The construction industry is committed to climate goals and considers it important that, in connection with the repair series, the section on low carbon is also refined to be functional and efficient.
