Working group presentation: Rakennuspooli is a preparedness organization in the construction industry

Security of supply, preparedness and exceptional circumstances have been on the agenda of many organizations in recent years. The construction industry also has its own cooperative body for preparing for disruptions and exceptional construction-related situations: Rakennuspooli.

Rakennuspool's chairman, director of the Toimitilat capital area unit, explains the tasks and activities of Rakennuspool Jouni Forsman from SRV.

What is the purpose of Rakennuspool's operation?

Rakennuspooli is a cooperative body between construction industry companies and authorities in preparing for construction activities in the event of disturbances in normal conditions and exceptional conditions. Pooli closely cooperates with, for example, the Defense Forces, regional administrative agencies, the Norwegian Railways Agency, ELY centers, rescue services, municipalities and cities.

The central task of the construction pool is to ensure the rapid availability of construction capacity and necessary construction materials in exceptional circumstances. The operation of the building pool is based on the pool agreement concluded between Huoltovarmuuskeskus, Rakennusteollisuus RT, Sähkö- ja teleuaktoitsijat ry and Yleinen vynalaliitto ry.

Who are the pool members?

Company and authority representatives who form the pool's committees are called pool members. The committees are the pool committee, which leads the pool's operations, and five regional committees, which are responsible for regional preparedness. In addition, the pool maintains a list of companies determined to be critical in terms of security of supply, not all of which are necessarily represented on the committees.

What is at the top of Rakennuspool's agenda in 2024?

This year, we are intensifying preparedness cooperation with municipalities and cities, supporting companies in enhancing preparedness, participating in the development of preparedness related to exceptional circumstances, promoting digital security in the KIRA industry and producing a supply security situation picture for the industry.

In general, all themes related to society's preparedness are now on the surface, and the pool brings a construction perspective to them. Training and companies' own preparedness measures play an even more significant role in the prevailing situation.

Describe pool in three words.

Committed, competent, able.

Why should you participate in Rakennuspool's activities?

By participating in the pool's activities, you can contribute to society's preparedness. Also, companies' normal risk management and business continuity can be developed with the support of a supply security organization. In addition, the pool has a good team spirit and an atmosphere of doing things.
