The steel structure association is an association formed by industry operators. TRY acts as a guardian of the interests of its member companies, a developer of operating conditions and a discussion forum. It is also an active expert organization in the field.

Technical advocacy and advice

The various standards concerning metal structures are mainly drawn up as a European collaboration in the various committees of the European standardization organization CEN. The association's representatives participate in the work of the most important committees as representatives of Finland.

TRY is a Finnish member of the European steel construction industry organization ECCS (European Convention for Constructional Steelwork). The association's officers participate in the work of some ECCS technical committees.

The association issues statements on laws, regulations, guidelines, standards and/or similar proposals that are significant in terms of metal construction. It also serves authorities and member companies in technical matters.

Promotion of education

Education is one important focus area of the association's activities. TRY keeps in touch with those who teach steel structures at universities, universities of applied sciences, vocational schools and adult education centers.

The main goal of the training is to secure the supply of competent personnel and to qualify people in the field for various tasks. Another important entity is training aimed at obtaining the various required qualifications.

Cooperation and communication

The association has several sections. The basic idea of the divisions is to bring together industry people belonging to the division's industry and to plan and implement joint development projects.

TRY targets both technical and commercial communication especially to builders, authorities, builder consultants, contractors and designers (architects, structural engineers). Teräsrakken magazine is published four times a year.
