Finland has a decentralized standardization system, where SFS Suomen Standardit ry is responsible for the general infrastructure of standardization and the coordination of operations. Rakennustuoteollisuus RTT operates as a branch community of SFS Suomen Standards, and we are responsible for about half of the standardization in the construction sector.
The industry associations representing the different fields of SFS Suomen Standards are responsible for practical standardization processes, e.g. of standards statements, votes and, if necessary, translation. In addition, they maintain standardization groups that influence the content of European (EN) and global (ISO) standards under development.
Construction product industry RTT prepares Finnish SFS standards if necessary.
