Error-free, smooth construction process and successful customer meetings are characteristics of good quality. In order to achieve good quality, you need sufficient professional expertise, the creation of conditions for producing quality, and the will to do things with quality.

Together with our member companies, we have invested heavily in developing the quality of construction. We focus especially on quality assurance during construction work and successful customer encounters. The company's goal is zero-defect handovers, and for example, in housing projects, the goal is achieved by more than 80 percent at best.
Construction quality can be divided into different areas, which include, among others
- Construction legislation: Construction is controlled quite strictly in Finland through various laws, regulations and orders. These aim to guarantee the safety and health of buildings and structures during use.
- Design of structures: In the design of the building's structures, not only the durability and safety of the structures, but also the aspects of buildability, conversion flexibility and energy efficiency must be taken into account.
- Building materials and their use: High-quality and correctly selected building materials, as well as their active maintenance and upkeep, are important for the durability and functionality of the building.
- Construction quality: High-quality construction work requires close cooperation between different parties. These cooperation parties include authorities, customers, builders, designers and building administrators. This ensures that the building is safe and functional, and that it meets the wishes and needs of the customer and end users.
- Environmental efficiency: In construction, different environmental aspects must be taken into account throughout the entire life cycle, i.e. during planning, construction and use. These things to consider include recycling and the circular economy, emission effects and the effects of the construction site on the surrounding environment.
- Customer experience and communication: Site and project communication is an important part of construction quality, and it also improves the customer experience. Customer experience can be measured with different metrics. For example, with RT's largest companies, EPSI Raiting's customer satisfaction survey of buyers of new apartments is carried out annually.
Measures related to the promotion of quality in the construction industry
Registers maintained by RALA
+Quality work is also carried out long-term through the Raknettinen kalaat RALA association. Construction industry RT is one of the founding members of RALA. RALA maintains, among other things, the qualification register and certifies companies. RALA qualifications are evidence of a company's competence and reliability, awarded by an independent evaluation board. The purpose of the qualifications and certificates issued by RALA is to reduce the amount of bureaucracy related to construction and increase the transparency of construction processes.
RALA qualification can be applied for by all companies in the construction industry and public administration organizations that have reference sites in Finland and sufficient financial statement information. Read more on RALA's website and apply for a qualification.
Customer satisfaction survey of new housing construction EPSI Raiting
+The customer satisfaction survey for new housing construction was jointly developed by EPSI Rating and Rakennusteollisuus RT, and it includes Finland's largest housing builders, who produce the vast majority of self-financed owner-occupied housing for sale. A study that measures the quality experience of consumer customers in a comprehensive and uniform way has been carried out since 2016.
Ratu – General file for Ratu construction industry production planning
+Ratu is a general file for production planning in the construction industry, which describes work methods in accordance with good construction practice and the related cost information. Ratu provides basic information for the selection of work methods, work planning and cost calculation, as well as tools to improve the productivity, safety and quality of construction. Construction contractors have been jointly developing Ratu for 30 years. The Ratu project is managed and financed by RT's Talonrakennusteollisuus ry.
RALA's Dry Chain10
+RALA's Kuivaketju10 is a moisture management operating model that can be used to prevent the risks of moisture damage in construction and projects.
