With the help of standardized digital product information management, construction sites become part of a genuine digital supply chain, where builders, building administrators and users can utilize product information throughout the entire life cycle of the building. On the other hand, with innovations, information security risks have increased. Today, information security and consideration of cyber threats is a key part of planning the built environment.
The possibilities of artificial intelligence in the construction industry
The introduction of artificial intelligence in the construction industry requires a massive amount of machine-readable, structured and harmonized information. Companies must first standardize their own processes, in which case they can consider replacing some processes with digital solutions. When the information is harmonized and the information structures standardized, artificial intelligence can be taught. Personnel must also be trained for the adoption of artificial intelligence.

According to representatives of member companies who responded to the skills needs assessment commissioned by RT in 2021, digitalization has the greatest impact on the development of the construction industry and is even revolutionizing business.

Supply chain product information management
+RT's goal is the flow of digitized product information in the supply chain, and for this a separate Supply Chain Product Information Management development project has been established at the beginning of 2023. The goal of the development project is to create the world's first standardized way to identify the individual product information and supply chain information of so-called project products (for example, concrete elements).
RYTJ - Information system of the built environment
+The purpose of the built environment information system (RYTJ) is to collect the most important information on the use and construction of areas in a common place.
The information in the system complies with the jointly agreed technical requirements, whereby the use of the information system reduces manual data processing.
The Act on the Information System of the Built Environment and on Amending the Land Use and Building Act enters into force on January 1.1.2024, XNUMX.

RYTV – Standardization of information modeling of the built environment
+Standardization of information modeling of the built environment project program, or RYTV, is a four-year project program whose purpose is to standardize and harmonize information modeling in Finland.
The project creates common requirements for information modeling and information models, and establishes information models as the operating method of the entire built environment.
Together with standardized digital product information, it is possible to have data from the built environment flowing throughout the entire life cycle of the building and it could, for example, be enriched with different information and analyzed automatically.
