The first group of member companies from different sectors of the construction industry have joined the Finnish Construction Industry Association's circular economy green deal ceiling commitment. The group includes small and medium-sized companies that want to strengthen their circular economy expertise and build a competitive advantage from it.

The construction industry was the first industry to join the circular economy green deal in autumn 2025. The aim is to promote the goals of the green deal and encourage SMEs in particular to reduce the use of natural resources and set ambitious circular economy goals.
By 2035, RT's member companies are expected to be involved in a broad range of ways. With SMEs in particular in mind, commitment has been made easy through a common umbrella commitment. The first group of companies joining the umbrella commitment was announced on 21 May 2026 at RT's stakeholder event, Kevätharjakainen.
They were among the first to join the circular economy green deal ATL-Rakennushuolto Oy, Helsinki House Transfer Oy, Japusa Oy, Kaiwur Oy, Sweeping Technology Infra Oy, Mining Sand Oy, M & R Vaulamo Oy, Maajukka Oy, Meri-Porin Kuormaus Oy, Pylon Construction Oy, Construction Concrete and Element Oy, Construction Company R. Lempinen Oy, Construction Company U. Lipsanen Oy, RepoPartners Oy, Sansse Oy and Building Technology Lehtilä Oy.
They have already made their own, company-specific commitment Finnfoam Oy, GRK Corporation, Skanska Oy ja YIT Corporation.
“We need more companies to join us”
Now, companies that have signed up through the umbrella commitment commit to identifying their own circular economy actions, setting targets for them, and monitoring progress. They will receive full support and tools from RT to achieve their goals.
RT considers the joining of new companies a significant step forward, but emphasizes that the work is just beginning.
"A total of 20 companies are now involved. We need more members to truly accelerate the circular economy transformation in the sector. The ceiling commitment has been built precisely to make it as easy as possible for companies of all sizes to get involved in concrete actions," said the director responsible for promoting the circular economy. Juha Laurila says.
The circular economy green deal is a voluntary commitment model of the Ministry of the Environment and industry players, which aims to reduce the consumption of natural resources and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon circular economy. The potential for impact in the construction sector is great, as more than half of the use of natural resources in Finland is related to the built environment.
