The new EU construction product regulation will enter into force in January 2025

The new regulation (EU 2011/305) replacing the Construction Products Regulation (Construction Products Regulation CPR EU 2011/2024), which entered into force in 3110, has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 18.12.2024 December 2025, and its application will begin in January 2030. The transition phase will last several years, into the XNUMXs until.

In the new regulation, the basic structure of the internal market system for construction products, which is based on European harmonized product standards and the European technical evaluations that complement them, will be preserved.

However, the content of the upcoming new regulation is significantly broader than before, including, among other things, requirements regarding the characteristics and performance levels of products during their entire life cycle, as well as product safety.

When the new internal market regulation enters into force, the transition to the procedures according to it will take place on a practical level, however, gradually over a long period of time, according to the European Commission's so-called through the CPR acquis process. In this process, the Commission's new standardization mandates for the European standardization organization CEN are prepared by product group.

As a whole, the transition from the application of the previous regulation to the new one will take well into the 2030s. The old, receding act will partly remain in force parallel to the new one until 2040.
