Europe is preparing for the possible end of the war in Ukraine and the reconstruction. The effects of reconstruction are also reflected in Finland, and RT aims to help member companies prepare for them.
Like last year, RT representatives participated in the ReBuild Ukraine event in Warsaw, Poland. It is the world's largest event related to the reconstruction of Ukraine, which consists of a trade fair and a separate Recovery Construction seminar. Finland had its own stand at the event, where more than 20 companies presented their expertise, and there were also Team Finland representatives present.
During the trip, we met, among others, the CEO of EastCham Finland, Jaana Rekolainen and the head of the Kyiv office, Olena Kutsai, the CEO of the European construction organization FIEC, Domenico Campogrande, and the previous chairman, the current leader of the Ukraine task force, Kjetil Tonning, the special representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ukraine reconstruction), ambassador Antti Vänskä, and special expert Oskari Laukkanen, Lev Partskhaladze, chairman of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine (CBU), and Reijo Kankaan, director of Business Finland.
During the trip, it became clear that the reconstruction of Ukraine will be an unprecedented effort that will offer great opportunities, but also great risks. In addition, the end of the war - hopefully as soon as possible - will have an impact on construction in Finland as well, for example in terms of the availability of materials and material costs.
RT has decided to do scenario work during 2025, focusing on the effects of the entire value chain after the reconstruction in Ukraine and how to prepare for the effects. The previous scenario work on the effects of the war was done immediately after the start of the war in the spring of 2022.
The Finnish Confederation of Business EK has opened a Ukrainian reconstruction forum for companies that are interested in following the situation and getting more information about it. The forum meets about once a month and you can register for the forum from this link.
