TET internships aimed at second- and first-year students are organized in spring and autumn. In April, 8th grader Petja Kuronen's "Lahesta" visited working life at RT.
In April, Petja Kuronen got to know the construction industry's influence and attraction work and communication tasks at RT. The TET training period of the Kasi class was a week long and the working days were six hours long. Since the work trip was from Lahti to the center of Helsinki, the trips were also included in the working day.
"The introduction to working life period is an excellent way for middle school students to get to know different workplaces and tasks. Companies not only get an overview of young people's expectations for working life, but also a great opportunity to learn new things from young people. A TET internship can also serve as a springboard to get to know the industry when it's time to apply for future summer jobs and study positions", sums up the social relations manager Lauri Pakkanen the importance of TET training. He also served as Petja's main instructor during the week.

Among other things, Petja participated in the monthly meeting of the training and skills team, where he presented the TikTok review he made during Monday. At the same time, he sparred us conkers to understand the logic of the channel. According to Petja, funny and even "crazy" videos work best for young people. They must also have some hook, for example an interesting work phase and good music in the background.
On Thursday, Petja got to know the various career pages and stories of the member companies online and shared his observations about them. In the afternoon, a connection was made from the Eteläranta 10 branch to Oulu, and the rest of the day rolled by in the world's largest virtual business visit event. At the end of the day, Petja earned the communication parrot badge for his excellent communication sparring and active participation. The TET week culminated in a visit to the Parliament building.

Guide for member companies for the TET training period
Introduction to working life periods are organized in the middle schools of all basic schools. There are periods in both spring and autumn and they are 1–2 weeks long. The young person is insured on behalf of the school for the period, and he is not paid for the period. The goal is to support young people in matters related to career choice and further education. The image of the construction industry and the company where the young person completes his familiarization period is not limited only to the young person who has attended the TET course, but is carried along with him to his family and friends.
