The Työn Taitaja program, Oulu Construction Cluster and Rakennusteollisuus RT and its member companies are organizing the world's largest virtual company visit day for children and young people. About 6 people have already registered for the event.
The goal of the virtual company visit day is to make the construction industry and the career opportunities it offers familiar to children and young people in early childhood education, elementary school, high school and vocational secondary education.
The day of the visit will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the city of Oulu. The live studio is located in Välkkylä, Oulu, in the student tower house Uno built by Lapti. You can participate in online visits regardless of location, age and educational background. The duration of a single roaming is 30 – 45 minutes.
During the visit day, children and young people get to get to know different educational institutions, companies and professions in the construction industry. With the help of career stories, they are told, among other things, what a typical working day is like, what kind of skills are needed in different positions, and what subject choices and studies can be used to get a job in the field.
Pohjois-Suomen Rakennusklusteri and Rakennusteollisuus ry are involved in the implementation of the event. RT's representative at the live studio is Juha Mäntynen, Regional Manager of Building Construction Industry. Construction Industry RT's members include Skanska, YIT, Lapti, NCC and VRJ-Group. UKI Arkkitehdit, Sweco and A-Insinoörit present architecture and planning of the built environment. Education organizers are represented by Koulutuskuntayhtymä OSAO, Oulu University of Applied Sciences OAMK and University of Oulu.
