RT's labor market committee actively develops labor market issues in the construction industry.

On the section presenting RT's committees and working groups, the chairman of the committee, Skanska's human resources director, explains the activities of the labor market committee Nina Jankola-Väntär.
What is the purpose of the labor market committee's activities?
The labor market committee presents to RT's board the common goals of all RT's sectors for the TES negotiations. In addition, it annually confirms the workforce and training strategy of the construction industry, monitors the development of the labor market, makes presentations to the board and issues statements.
Who are the committee members?
The committee consists of CEOs of RT member companies broadly representing the construction industry and business-oriented HR professionals. An important part of the group is RT's labor market leader, who acts as RT's contact person. RT's board appoints the committee members based on the proposals of the chairman and the industries.
What is on the committee's top agenda in 2024?
At the beginning of 2024, our agenda has included the decrease in the need for labor caused by the cyclical situation in the construction industry, labor issues in the field in general, and expectations related to the competence and adequacy of the labor force in the next few years.
During the fall, the preparation for the upcoming TES round and related measures will begin. We have had leading experts from, among others, EK, Aalto University and the pension company to initiate various topics, thanks to which we have had very good discussions about, for example, the development of labor legislation, the reform of the pension system, the importance and goals of local bargaining.
Describe the committee in three words.
Expert, conversational and opinionated.
Why should you participate in RT's committees and working groups?
The impact of the construction industry on society is significant. By participating in the activity, you can influence the solutions made in the field by bringing your own expertise to the activities of the RT union community.
Through the Labor Market Committee, we also do important work for the attractiveness and interest of the industry. Networking in labor market matters often broadens one's perspective and helps to make better solutions also in one's job.
